Rugby World Cup Predictions 22nd Sept 2023 - Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England Rugby

A MASSIVE weekend for all the home nations in the Rugby World Cup 2023.

Here is my take anyway in brief.

Wales:

Pretty much in poll position in Group after a bonus points win vs Portugal. Australia losing to Fiji (Aaah poor Eddie - not) was a massive cherry on the top.

Beat the Aussies now and they are a shoe in for the Quarter Finals

Loose and and the gloves are off for this group. Wales will have a probably quite tired Georgia team to play. But they have been beaten by them before. With nothing to play for except pride could they provide an upset.

Australia still have Portugal to play. That looks like a bonus point, but if they have lost to Wales then the heads might go down and Portugal have proved troublesome at points.

But Fiji have 2 fairly straight forward games now vs Portugal and Georgia. Their fate is in their own hands. If they come up with 2 bonus points wins then it could be goodnight Matilda for the Aussie.

My prediction: Wales to beat Australia by 12 and Fiji to go through. Australia out at group stages and Eddie Jones burned at the stake on his return. But never write off Australia against Wales!

Ireland:

Saturday you will hear the first impacts all the way back to Dublin. The top 2 teams in the world going head to head in what could be one of the most brutal and physical encounters.

This is anyone's game. Both will want to top this group and stamp their authority on the other.

Expect blood and thunder.

My prediction:

Wow this is tough. But I fear South Africa will have too much and sneak this one by 4. What matters is how much damage Ireland take in injuries with Scotland still to come.

Scotland:

Scotland have the toughest run in now by far. Having lost to South Africa it was always going to be uphill. The main blocker is going to be Ireland.

But they can do themselves a power of good by beating Tonga, especially if with a bonus point. If Ireland get beaten and beaten up against South Africa or loose Johnny Sexton and others things could be very interesting.

My Prediction:
Scotland will beat Tonga by 16 but may struggle to get the bonus point

England

Oh dear my poor old silly England. Despite the critics they have found a way to win matches and score tries at last. They do seem to be building confidence.

Argentina beating Samoa today has done them a massive favour.

Owen Farrell starts and Marcus Smith at full back which could be very exciting, for this Chile encounter. Then Eliot Daly in midfield who is powerful and a massive boot on him. Coupled with the exciting Malins and Arundell this could be very good for England or a complete disaster.

England do have a knack of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory lately.

My Prediction: I expect a bonus point win for England although they may let in one or two tries themselves
